This library visit I was quite happy to carry in an enormous mountain of books, and only leave with very small stack (picture books for the kids aren’t shown, so it wasn’t quite as small a stack as this image indicates). In other words, I returned more than I brought back, so for once my checkout limit has some breathing room.
And apologies for the picture. I tried a new location for book shots, and didn’t realize until later that it wasn’t as clear of a picture as normal because of the light from the window behind the books. And by the time I did the books were scattered throughout the house, and if try and wait to get a new picture, this post will never be shared.
Nonfiction
The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook by Deb Perelman
Why has it taken me this long to get to her book? No idea, but I’m making up for lost time. Love her stories that accompany each recipe, and her photography is always beautiful.
The Book of Schmaltz: Love Song to a Forgotten Fat by Michael Ruhlman
Already finished this one! Surprisingly enjoyable read in that it’s about schmaltz, but not so surprising, in that it’s by Ruhlman.
Fiction
The Secret Keeper: A Novel by Kate Morton
An upcoming book club pick and I’m trying to get it read so I don’t end up rushing to finish it.
Duck for a Day by Meg McKinley illustrated by Leila Rudge and Welcome to Silver Street Farm
by Nicola Davies illustrated by Katharine McEwen
Possible read-alouds for the kids. We’re fairly new at reading/listening to chapter books, so I’m looking for ones with high interest to keep them content. Hopefully these fit the bill.
